I Have a Secret Confession.I’ve thought a lot about it over the years and need to get it out in the open. Once you hear it, you may call me crazy. You likely won’t understand what I mean, but it’s still true. I’ve talked with other warrior poets over the years and many of them agree with me.Okay, okay. I won’t put it off any longer.
Brothers. Yes, those are the strange male creatures that aren’t your father, but that roam your house anyway, often making their home in the bedroom next door to yours. Reports show that brothers in the “Teenagious Awkwardious” stage of development can be particularly gangly and just plain weird...
I recently heard a wise, older pastor make a very helpful statement. He was remarking on the tension between loving God with our hearts and loving God with our mind and how they often seem at odds with each other.
Sabina Wurmbrand’s life made an impact that has reverberated into innumerable lives. Imagine yourself in Romania, in 1945. Communism has recently stormed Romania and is raining torrents of hatred and persecution upon the Christians. They've also taken a more subtle approach through seeking to slither their way into the inner ranks of the Church.
Dear sister in Christ,I hope you are growing each day in the love of our Savior, Jesus Christ. Although there are a lot of challenges and distractions to divert you off the path of righteousness, I pray that you will continue on and not lose faith. Have you noticed the lack of godly men in this generation? Yes, I suppose you have; you probably feel it even more acutely than I do.
The Heart: It's YouDid you know that the concept of the heart surfaces over one thousand times in Scripture? Something that reoccurs that many times is incredibly significant. We can call it a mega theme. Though it is of high importance, I think there is much misunderstanding about this particular subject.
We cannot state it often or plainly enough. Marriage is the clearest sermon of the Gospel which can be preached. Our society has been rather successful at introducing us to strange notions of marriage, then convincing us that these strange notions that they attempt to call marriage are actually normative.
God’s PicturesImagine with me two trees. One is planted in a beautiful, lush valley alongside a massive river. Its roots sink deep into the rich soil, its core is filled with the sap of life, its height is magnificent and brawny, and its branches are filled with healthy, delightful fruit.
The other day, a friend and I went to visit the Apple store. When we arrived, I was reminded of why I don’t like going to the mall: the barrage of materialism, sexuality, and marketing was everywhere. While I enjoyed the Apple store, the walk through the mall to get there left me nauseous.Beauty is constantly being pushed at us.
I would like to take a moment and, on behalf of warrior-poets everywhere, apologize for the fact that there are impostor warrior-poets. Actually, there are a whole bunch of them, far too many. And frankly, we true warrior-poets-in-the-making have a very low regard for them.
