What does it mean to give yourself fully and completely to the purposes of Jesus Christ? In a world swirling with mediocrity it can be easy to pitch our tents in the world of apathy and comfort rather than pulling out those tent stakes and sojourning forth into the endless frontier of knowing Jesus. This week, Leslie tackles the concept of what it means to be a radical woman of God and how to impact this world for His glory.
PODCAST SHOW NOTES
Many of us don’t want to grapple with the great cost of giving everything to Jesus and can slide into nominal Christianity as a result. We must remember that Jesus Christ gave up everything for us, and He is asking if we will give up everything in return. If we want unhindered relationship with Jesus we must be willing to give up everything that is standing in our way.
The answer of a lifetime awaits us when we answer His invitation with a wholehearted yes. The path may not be easy but it will be infinitely more fulfilling than any other life path. It all comes down to our value system — are we living for things that are eternal or temporal? Jesus does not call us to surrender anything He has not already surrendered. If Jesus gave up everything for our sake, is He not worthy of receiving our everything in return?
Powerful Quotes on Surrender
Jesus says, “Rise up, My love, My fair one and come away.” He asks you to come out from the world and be separate and touch not the unclean thing. Come altogether away from selfishness —from anything which would divide your chaste and pure love to Christ — your soul’s Husband. Come away from your old habits. Leave all these things. Come away to private communion. Come away, shut the doors of your chamber and talk with your Lord Jesus and have close and intimate dealing with Him. Come altogether away from the world, by making your dedication to Christ perfect, complete, unreserved, sincere, spotless.
He is no fool who gives what he cannot keep to gain that which he cannot lose.
Rather, open my hand to received the nail of Calvary, as Christ’s was opened- that I, releasing all, might be released, unleashed from all that binds me now. He thought Heaven, yea, equality with God, not a thing to be clutched at. So let me release my grasp.
